I’m so glad I decided to watch the news this morning, because I learned that the Hummer brand of vehicles has failed. It is no more. GM only sold 9,000 of those ugly monstrosities last year (which is 9,000 too many, but oh, well) and no one wants to buy the brand. Thank you, people of America, for choosing to spend your automobile dollars on something other than a troop transport.
Gresh, I think my favorite memory of this beloved brand of automobile will always involve a particular episode of ER, where an entire family was killed when a Hummer literally ran over their family station wagon…that was the sad part. But back to my FAVORITE part. Directly following that scene during the commercial break, a Hummer ad ran.
I think the suits at Hummer must have known that Hummer would be mentioned in that particular episode, but someone got lazy and failed to investigate the context in which said brand would be mentioned.
The cynic in me thinks that the suits were okay with the association. “Buy a Hummer; flatten a station wagon.”
indeed. according to mad men… i thought they paid people to avoid things like that?
so, at first i thought you were going to say that it was the whale story on the news that restored your faith. i know it doesn’t work, but that whale just made me happy today.
